AIFA and Agenzia Industrie Difesa sign collaboration agreement
The Director General of the Italian Medicines Agency (AIFA), Nicola Magrini, and the Director General of the Agenzia Industrie Difesa (AID), Nicola Latorre, today signed the renewal of a framework collaboration agreement to cooperate in increasing the activities in the pharmaceutical sector.
“The protocol signed with AIFA tangibly shows the commitment of collaboration between two State Bodies that place themselves, today more than ever, at the service of the community”, so the AID Director General Nicola Latorre described what was signed today. The renewed objective of the agreement provides for the consolidation of the production activities addressing drug shortages in the national or European market, including orphan drugs and facilitating access to requesting patients. AIFA's support to AID, which manages the Stabilimento Chimico Farmaceutico Militare (Military Chemical and Pharmaceutical Plant) of Florence, will also be relevant in the production and distribution of medical cannabis.
“With this agreement we continue and expand the collaboration already in place with the AID for strategic activities of high national interest, for the benefit of the NHS and patients”, so the AIFA Director General Nicola Magrini. With a view to protecting the national community, the agreement also defines the collaboration between AID and AIFA in the procedures for the purchase, import, storage and distribution of medicines, vaccines, antidotes and raw materials intended for pharmaceutical productions in short supply.
