Latest initiatives to reduce antibiotic resistance in Italy presented

After the recommendations for general medicine and hospitals on resistant infections, the Italian Medicines Agency presented the most recent initiatives of the AIFA-OPERA CTS Working Group to reduce antibiotic resistance in Italy.
In fact, the “Manuale antibiotici AWaRe”, the Italian edition of the volume presented by the World Health Organisation (WHO) in December 2022 ('The WHO AWaRe Antibiotic Book') has been published.
From the WHO global recommendations, the ten most easily observed syndromes in adults and children were also selected, calibrated and adapted to the epidemiological context and medicine availability in Italy.
The contents have been collected in two publications 'Treatment of the most frequent community bacterial infections in adults/children - according to the principles of "The WHO AWaRe Antibiotic Book"' (soon available) and will be freely accessible on the Agency's website, also via App.
The presentation was attended by Director General Nicola Magrini, Evelina Tacconelli (University of Verona), Patrizia Popoli (President of the Scientific Technical Committee, CTS) and Federico Marchetti (U.O. Paediatrics and Neonatology, Ravenna).
