Eugenia Cogliandro elected first Vice Chair of the European Pharmacopoeia Commission
Eugenia Cogliandro, a Chemist health official and coordinator for quality aspects of AIFA's Medicines Authorization Area, has been elected First Vice Chair of the European Pharmacopoeia Commission, which is the decision-making body of the European Pharmacopoeia and is responsible for the development and maintenance of its contents, most of which are legally binding.
In this role she will also be a member of the "Presidium" (composed of the Chair, the two Vice Chairs, the EDQM Director and the Commission Secretary), which carries out preparatory work on the issues to be discussed in the Commission, facilitating the decision-making process and establishing the criteria for defining work priorities for the next three years.
Already a member of the same Commission since 2009, Eugenia Cogliandro, thanks to the great experience gained in the quality sector and within the European regulatory system, also as Italian delegate at the EMA's Joint CHMP/CVMP Quality Working Party (QWP), will contribute to the realization of the "mission" of the European Pharmacopoeia, which is to guarantee one of the fundamental human rights, namely access to medicines of adequate quality.
Appointment to such a prestigious and challenging role represents not only a personal achievement of a colleague who is esteemed nationally and internationally, but also a success for Italy as it strengthens its role as a key player in the European regulatory network.
