COVID-19 vaccine (inactivated, adjuvanted)
The European Medicines Agency and AIFA have authorized the first inactivated virus vaccine against COVID-19, “COVID-19 Vaccine (inactivated, adjuvanted) Valneva” of the pharmaceutical company Valneva.
Inactivated virus vaccines are produced by culturing the SARS-CoV-2 virus in cell cultures and subsequently chemically inactivating it. When the vaccine is administered, the immune system identifies the inactivated virus as foreign and produces antibodies and T cells against it.
