AIFA establishes a Technical Committee for the revision of the AIFA Notes and Therapeutic Plans
The Italian Medicines Agency has set up a Technical Committee to support the Scientific and Economic Commission for Medicines (CSE). The Technical Committee will have the task of developing a preliminary document that will be subsequently evaluated by the CSE.
As previously announced, AIFA is officially launching a new working method geared towards sharing its investigative and decision-making pathways with physicians and reference scientific societies. With the measure in question, AIFA begins the process of reviewing the AIFA Notes and Therapeutic Plans currently in force in the light of scientific evidence, medical care criticalities, and any proposal for alternative tools to govern prescription appropriateness in a territorial context. In doing so, AIFA will involve the professional associations of general practitioners and scientific societies.
This is the objective with which the Italian Medicines Agency has set up a Technical Committee to support the Scientific and Economic Commission for Medicines (CSE), that will have the task of developing a preliminary document to be subsequently assessed by the CSE.
The Technical Committee is composed as follows:
- Pierluigi Russo, Technical - Scientific Director of AIFA with coordination duties;
- Walter Marrocco, member of the CSE with the task of vice-coordination;
- Giovanna Scroccaro, member of the CSE;
- Silvestro Scotti, Secretary General of the Italian Federation of General Practitioners (FIMMG), together with two other members representing the union;
- Angelo Testa, National President of the Autonomous National Union of Italian Doctors (SNAMI);
- Pina Onotri, Secretary General of the Italian Doctors Union (SMI);
- Francesco Esposito, National Segretary of the Federation of Territorial Physicians (FMT);
- Alessandro Rossi, President of the Italian Society of General Medicine and Primary Care (SIMG);
- Arturo Cavaliere, President of the Italian Society of Hospital Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Services (SIFO).
Please find the Resolution establishing the Technical Committee in the ‘Related documents’.
