Second meeting of the Technical Committee for the revision of AIFA Notes and Therapeutic Plans
The Technical Committee for the revision of AIFA Notes and Therapeutic Plans (TP) held its second meeting today at the Italian Medicines Agency. The Technical-Scientific Director Pierluigi Russo, together with representatives of the Scientific and Economic Commission (CSE) and representatives of general practitioners, addressed various issues related to the prescription of medicines in the territorial context, with the participation of SIFO (Italian Society of Hospital Pharmacy) and FNOMCeO (National Federation of the Orders of Doctors and Dental Surgeons).
In particular, the Committee examined in depth the issue of Notes 1 and 48 concerning the prescription of proton pump inhibitors, and discussed Notes that could be repealed as they are now obsolete. Finally, the Committee made proposals for updates to be brought to the attention of the CSE regarding Note 99, concerning medicines used in the treatment of chronic obstructive bronchopathy, Note 100, concerning anti-diabetic medicines, and Notes 97 and 101 (the latter currently suspended), concerning direct oral anticoagulants.
On the margins of the meeting, the Technical-Scientific Director stated that ‘the Committee is actively contributing to developing proposals aimed to improve the prescribing activities of physicians on the territory, with the contribution of the reference scientific societies, in the primary interest of patients and the quality of care provision.
